Salivary Cortisol

Please read this manual carefully and completely before collecting your sample. Do not hesitate to contact us for any support.

ACTIVATE YOUR KIT

Important! not activated kits cannot be processed at the lab,so make sure to follow the instructions below.

  1. Right before collecting the sample go to kits.abel.care
  2. Insert the barcode and the verification code written on the activation card that you can find in your Abelcare box.
  3. Follow all the steps as requested on the website.

SAMPLE COLLECTION

***IMPORTANT Avoid this within 30 minutes before sampling:

  • Eating a main course
  • The use of alcoholic and/or highly acidic or sweet food
  • Toothbrushing
  • Smoking and/or the use of e-cigarettes

Collection times

  • Sample 1: 15 minutes after awaking
  • Sample 2: Between 12 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Sample 3: Between 3 and 4 p.m.
  • Sample 4: 5 minutes before going to sleep
  1. You will see that the four tubes are labeled from 1 - 4, you will have to take 4 samples according to the above defined timing.
  2. Open the tube, put one end of the straw in your mouth and the other in the tube.
  3. Slowly fill the tube with saliva, make sure not to force the saliva production.
  4. In approximately 2 minutes the tube shoud be filled in between the lines. If you are not there yet, keep going for 1 more minute.
  5. Repeat the procedure above for the 4 samples.
  6. Store the tube in the fridge using the foam holder provided. When all samples are collected, check the next section about packing and shipping the sample.

PACKING AND SHIPPING YOUR SAMPLE

Please ship your sample the morning after collection

  1. Place the tubes and the holder in the biohazard bag that you can find in your Abelcare box. Note that the bag has two pouches. Use the one with the silver self-adhesive strip at the end. Tape the bag firmly shut.
  2. Take everything out of your Abelcare box and place the biohazard bag with the sample inside the empty box. Close it thoroughly.
  3. Among the items you will find a white retour bag. Put the box containing the sample inside the retour bag and close it.
  4. Go to the nearest bpost (Belgium) / DHL (Netherlands) / LaPoste (France) mailbox and drop the package there. (Package is already pre-addressed and prepaid.)

Make sure you drop the package in the mailbox on the same day of collection. This date should correspond to the date inserted when you activated your kit.
