Please read this manual carefully before collecting your sample. Before starting, make sure your Abelcare box contains the following items.

Retour Bag / Activation Card / Test Tube / Barcode / Biohazard Bag

FEMALE TEST: Cotton Swab

MALE TEST: Paper Collection Box / Pipette

For us to be able to test your sample, make sure you first activate your kit at www.abel.care

Insert the 'Barcode' and the 'Abelcode' written on the activation card that you can find in your Abelcare box.

Please follow all the steps as requested on the website.

Thoroughly wash your hands before starting. Undress from the waist down.

Partially peel open the swab package without touching the soft tip of the swab. IMPORTANT: If the soft tip is touched, the swab is laid down, or the swab is dropped, the accuracy of the result can be affected.

Remove the swab from the package carefully. Do not lay it down.

Hold the swab in the middle of the stick (shaft) with your thumb and forefinger.

Carefully insert the soft tip end of the swab into your vagina about 5 cm (2 inches) past the opening of the vagina. Gently rotate the swab for 10 to 30 seconds, making sure the swab touches the walls of the vagina so that moisture is absorbed by the swab.

Withdraw the swab without touching your skin.

While still holding the swab, carefully unscrew the cap from the test tube. Do not spill the content of the tube.

Immediately place the swab into the tube so that the soft tip of the swab is visible below the tube label.

Carefully break the swab shaft at the scoreline (dented line around middle of stick), being careful not to spill the liquid of the tube.

Close the tube. Make sure you screwed the cap tightly.

Discard the remaining part of the swab.

Wait at least one hour after your last urination before starting the collection.

Thoroughly wash your hands before starting.

Take the paper collection box out of your Abelcare box. Apply some pressure to unfold it.

Urinate into the collection box until it is 2/3 full. Make sure you pass the first part of the urine in the box.

Take the tube and the pipette out of your Abelcare box.

Open the test tube. Do not spill the content of the tube. Using the pipette, transfer urine from the collection box into the tube. You will need to pipette 2 or 3 times.

Fill the tube until the liquid is between the marked lines on the side of the tube as shown in the figure. Do not fill above or below the marked lines or your sample will be rejected by the laboratory.

Close the tube. Make sure you screw the cap tightly. Discard any remaining urine and dispose the collection box.

Stick the barcode that you can find in your Abelcare box onto the tube, as shown in the figure.

Place the tube in the biohazard bag that you can find in your Abelcare box. Note that the bag has two pouches. Use the one that has the zip.

Take everything out of your Abelcare box and place the biohazard bag with the sample inside the empty box. Close it thoroughly.

Among the items you will find a white retour bag. Put the box containing the sample inside the retour bag and close it.

Go to the nearest bpost mailbox and drop the package there. Package is already pre-addressed and prepaid. Make sure you drop the package in the mailbox on the same day of collection. This date should correspond to the date inserted when you activated your kit.
